Visit to the Lesbian Herstory Archives

I finally made it out to a gay history archives to add events from primary documents instead of books and websites. The Lesbian Herstory Archives in Brooklyn can be visited by anyone with an appointment (and they have some open hours). My friend Tracy came in from Boston and I came from D.C. just for the day. It was an amazing space.

Run entirely by volunteers, the archives were full of papers mostly illustrating the 1970’s to 1990’s in the New York area and the U.S., though they do have artifacts from other decades and countries. The photo below is of an actual Daughters of Bilitis document I got to hold in my hands.
